ESD Cabinet Bio: Jon Nelson

Jon Nelson , Associate Superintendent, Instructional Services and Technology

Jon NelsonJon Nelson has worked for Educational Service District 112 for 22 years. His work experience spans a career that includes eight years with Portland Public Schools, management positions in the corporate world, and owning his own business.  

Jon was instrumental in the design of the expanded Metropolitan Learning Center, a K-12 magnet school in Portland recognized to this day for its use of an innovative structure and instructional techniques. In addition to his work as an administrator, he has produced a number of nationally distributed curriculum projects. Jon received the Washington State Association of School Administrator's Student Achievement Award in 2001. He has been President of the Vancouver Educational Telecommunications Consortium and served several terms on the board of the Northwest Council for Computer Education.

Jon has a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction/Instructional Technology from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and administrative credentials from Portland State University. He is an adjunct professor for Seattle Pacific University and Portland State University.
