Department Overview
The Instruction and Technology Support primary goal is supporting schools and school districts in their efforts to improve student learning. We want to ensure that each student achieves the four state learning goals and is prepared to be an informed and involved citizen of the 21st Century. Our department works with schools, districts, families, communities, higher education, business and government to achieve these goals.

AUDIO VISUAL SERVICES
Coordinates equipment repairs; Videotape duplication; Repair of videotapes; Audio visual equipment purchasing and coordination of satellite teleconferences.
EDUCATIONAL CABLE TELEVISION PROGRAMMING
Educational programming via cable from both satellite and videotape to 52,000 students in Clark and Cowlitz counties.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS COOPERATIVE
Schedules and circulates 13,000 videotapes, video discs, and educational kits to schools. Web catalog and web booking available. Provides low cost access to online databases to school districts.

EISENHOWER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Federally funded from US Department of Education. Activities focus on curriculum alignment work in mathematics and/or science and development.
GREAT EXPLORATIONS IN MATH AND SCIENCE (NW GEMS Site)
Resource for activity-based science and mathematics. Teachers' guides and handbooks offer a wide spectrum of learning opportunities from preschool through 10th grade. We also provide workshops and instructional support to teachers and districts.
PARTNERSHIPS FOR ELEMENTARY SCIENCE EDUCATION (PESE)
National Science Foundation funding provides for training to all elementary teachers, grades K-6, in nine school districts.
SCIENCE MATERIALS CENTER (Regional)
10-district cooperative that provides "hands-on inquiry-based" science kits to approximately 25,000 K-6 students.
SCIENCE AND MATH ADVANCEMENT REACHOUT FOR TEACHERS (SMART)
Represents an alliance of K-12 educators, higher ed faculty, and local industry to provide support for science and mathematics teachers. Three conferences are held each academic year.

This program provides an opportunity for elementary, middle and high school teachers within the thirty districts served by ESD 112 to participate in professional development to improve their knowledge and teaching of American history and the US Constitution. The program is funded by a Department of Education Teaching American History Grant.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND ANGER MANAGEMENT
Employee training program including certified staff, building administrators, and counselors.
OMNIBUS PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION GRANT
This state grant provides intervention specialists (drug/alcohol counselors) to help school staff with student assistance programs.
SAFE AND DRUG-FREE SCHOOLS COOPERATIVE (Federal)
Funded through Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1987. Trains staff and students to help achieve drug-free schools. Services include technical assistance and program coordination, intervention specialist services, and program evaluation.

TV ETC is a non-profit consortium made up of public and private accredited schools and colleges in Clark County that provides video production and broadcasting on Clark County Comcast channels 27, 28 & 29.
