ESD 112 hosts opening reception and awards ceremony for 2009 Regional High School Art Show
Winning student artists gather with their certificates
Teachers, students, parents, and art lovers gathered on Tuesday to celebrate the opening reception and awards ceremony of the Southwest Washington 2009 Regional High School Art Show. Over 170 student pieces from high schools all around Southwest Washington were submitted for display and consideration.
Judges selected 12 pieces as Regional Winners, while almost 50 others received other awards and honorable mentions. The pieces of the 12 Regional winners will compete against entries from around Washington State in the Annual State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Art Show in Olympia in April.
Prior to the reception, four professional artists discussed their careers in fine art, animation, illustration and design in a panel entitled “You Can Work In Art: Career Tips for Student Artists.”
