A student in the Vancouver School District took the top honor for ESD 112 at the Annual Superintendent’s High School Art Show in Olympia.

Micaela Grover, a senior at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, won the Best in Show award for her acrylic self-portrait, “Winter Tree.” Grover said she was inspired to paint the piece as part of her senior project about the development of self-identity.

Grover attended the ASHAS Awards Reception on May 29 at the Old Capitol Building in Olympia. She was joined by family members, friends and her teacher, Crystal Zeller.

Eleven other students from ESD 112 had artwork in the state show. Click here for a complete list of ESD 112 award winners.
