This project consisted of major renovation and modernization of the existing building. Interior work included new windows, paint, carpet, tile, higher drop-in ceilings, electrical, cabinets, bathroom facilities and improvements to meet fire and earthquake building codes. New mechanical systems for air circulation and heat will be placed overhead in the raised ceiling areas for easy access for maintenance. The library was improved with day-light windows and an openbeam ceiling. The outside and inside entry way were reconfigured for easy access as well as improved safety and security of the building. The main office and secretarial area were placed in proximity to the front door to facilitate easy check-in for visitors and parents. When the school re-opened in the fall of 2008, the playground space included 6,200 square feet of covered play area as well as new playground equipment. Play area available to students had more than double in size from what as available. The project remained on time and on budget and was paid for with the passage of the 2005 $65.5 million voter approved bond. Size: 49,063 Sq. Ft. Project Address12806 20th Street NE
