Restoring the Constitutional Presidency

David Adler (Idaho State University) furthered our study of the presidency and its Constitutional guidelines with this ambitious program. Merging political science and historical lenses, Adler divided his presentation into five sections:
- The Presidency and Executive Power in the Constitutional Convention
- Presidential Power in the Early Republic: Washington-Jefferson
- Presidential Power in the 19th Century: Focal Points
- Presidential Power in the 20th Century: The Fall From Grace
- Restoring the Constitutional Presidency
To prepare for the program, Dr. Adler asked participants to read:
- Debating Executive Privilege
- George Bush, the unitary executive, and the Constitution
- Presidential Greatness as an Attribute of Warmaking
- The President as King
During the program, Dr. Adler had participants examine The Federalist Papers No. 69, 70, and 75
