The Bank of the United States and the US Constitution

Featured Speaker: Paul Finkelman, Albany Law School
September 25, 2008,
5:00 – 8:30 pm
ESD 112 Conference Center
In a program of true topical relevance, Dr. Finkelman linked three presidencies (Jackson’s, Jefferson’s, and Madison’s), the Supreme Court (emphasizing McCulloch v Maryland), Congress, the banks, and the US Constitution, demonstrating the value of studying the episode with students completing the “Checks and Balances” CBA. The episode also illustrated the limits of original intent arguments, as it showed individuals who were at the Constitutional Convention fighting over intent just years after the Constitution was ratified.
