Environmental Educators

Many Links AmeriCorps positions involve educating children, youth and/or adults about environmental issues. Links members can develop and implement exciting new curricula, provide interpretive services, educate the public about urban forests and green spaces, ensuring your science curricula meets statewide benchmarks, and so much more!

Recycling/Reuse Programs

Got waste? Let a Links member help you put it in its place! Members can develop and implement school recycling or composting programs, create curricula, even write and perform puppet shows teaching children about solid waste. Or, members can help local businesses to increase their recycling awareness and practice.

Water Quality

Links members can help educate and lead students in water quality testing projects. They can secure materials, speakers, and other resources, and organize a culminating event for students to showcase their findings.

Trail Building

Hit the trail with a team of Links members! Set them loose building or repairing trails at your school or park. Members can coordinate an event or work party for National Trails Day, provide community outreach and education, and more.

Summer Programs/Projects

Does your organization have programs that operate just during the summer months? Links AmeriCorps positions make a great compliment to these programs since these terms can be 300- 450 hours in length. Perfect for college students looking for a way to earn money during their time off while getting experience in a field that interests them. Camps, garden/farm projects, school-based activities programs, and trail building are just a few examples.

Conservation

Restoration and conservation projects are made easier when many hands join together to get that crucial work done. Links members can serve as crew leaders on riparian or urban tree planting projects, coordinate volunteer events, update outreach materials and much more!

Publicity Interns

Do you need help getting your message out? A Links member may be just what you need! Creating or updating websites, writing press releases, and designing outreach materials are just some of the things a Links member can do for your organization.

School Gardens or Natural Areas

Is your school considering creating a learning garden or natural area on campus? A Links member could assist you by researching the process, connecting teachers with educational resources, obtaining donations or small grants for supplies, assisting with seasonal upkeep of the garden and much more!

Culminating Senior Projects

Students in Washington will soon be required (or may already be) to complete a Culminating Senior Project in order to graduate. Interested in creating a senior culminating project that serves the community while at the same time earning money for college? Contact us to talk about possibilities. (must be at least 17 to enroll)

Volunteer Coordinators

A Links volunteer could help increase your program’s volunteer base and retention rate by providing dedicated support to your volunteers. Volunteer recruitment, training, mentorship guidance, and volunteer appreciation are among the possibilities for these positions (must be at least 17 to enroll). Contact us for more details.

Credit-based Service, Internships & Practicums

High school and college students may be able to earn $1000+ scholarships for their service through AmeriCorps. In order to count, the project must address a community need and place the member in direct service. Contact us to see if your internship qualifies or for help designing one that does.

School-based Service-Learning

Looking for a way to incorporate learning through service-based activities? Need help planning projects or effectively tying them into your lesson plans? A Links member may be just the answer!

Do you incorporate learning through service-based activities into your classes? If so, your students may be able to earn a scholarship of $1,00 or more for their participation.
