Title IV Safe and Drug Free Schools Program
A school district cooperative funded through the Title IV Safe and Drug Free School and Communities Act of 1984. The primary purpose of the program is to train staff and students to help achieve safe and drug free schools.
Audience:
Superintendents, administrators, students, prevention/intervention specialists, nurses, etc.
Members:
All school districts in the ESD 112 region except Battle Ground, Vancouver, and Evergreen.
The grant provides funding for activities including:
- Developmentally appropriate drug and violence prevention
- Drug/violence professional development and training
- Law enforcement/security activities
- Conflict resolution and peer mediation
- Counseling, mentoring and referral services including intervention specialist services
Programs and activities funded through Safe and Drug Free Schools must follow the Federal Principles of Effectiveness, and have a Safe and Drug Free Schools Advisory Board.
Districts participating in our Safe and Drug Free Schools Cooperative receive a multitude of services including grant management, prevention/intervention specialist services, curriculum, lending library, training, inservice opportunities and advisory board coordination.
