Great Explorations in Math & Science (GEMS)

GEMS is a growing series of science and math activities developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, then extensively tested nationwide, modified for classroom use, and published in teacher's guide format.

Presentation of GEMS activities does not require special training in math or science. Materials are easy to obtain. Fun and excitement are combined with opportunities for mastering key content and process skills. There are now nearly 50 GEMS Guides and Handbooks.

NW GEMS (located in Vancouver, Washington) offers a wide variety of workshops and resources. Two sets of GEMS guides are housed at the Science and Math Education Resource Center and may be previewed by appointment or checked out for up to one month. Guides may be ordered by phone.
