Volunteer Opportunities

The Science Materials Center Needs Volunteers

Volunteers are vital to the smooth operation of the Science Center. We have exciting partnerships with ESD112 programs such as Summer Youth Employment, G.E.D. and Re-Entry Programs. We also provide opportunities for G.A.T.E. Program students and our local senior citizens

During the school year the Science Center receives approximately 400-500 hours of volunteer time. Individuals who are conscientious to detail and enjoy teamwork make great volunteers. Volunteer projects involve prepackaging materials for science kits which includes sorting, counting, weighting, stickering and cutting.

Almost 4,000 science kits will be replenished during the school year. A great time to volunteer is during the months of October, February, May and July.
