Mental Health Services
We believe that healthy families provide the essential foundation for the growth and development of healthy children. Our professional staff of child mental health specialists is trained to help families achieve their goals with evidence based practices and cutting edge treatment.
Lower Columbia Mental Health Center assigns a Master Level Child Mental Health Specialist to each Cowlitz County school district. Our highly-skilled therapists provide individual, group, and family therapy at the school. Services generally last up to twelve sessions, with longer-term service available in special cases. We will provide the treatment a student and family needs and, as necessary, help them access additional services in the community.
Our therapists are trained to work with a myriad of child mental health issues, including the following behaviors:
- tired, withdrawn, sad, tearful, angry outbursts
- anxious, difficulty with transition, performance anxiety
- oppositional, defiant, disruptive, impulsive
- poor peer relationships (avoidance, bullying, teasing, initiating fights, etc.)
- failure to show remorse
- underachieving and unexplained attendance problems
- aggressive, assaultive, repeated discipline problems
- harm to self, runaway, high risk behaviors
- failing classes, truancy, frequently tardy
- substance abuse and legal involvement
We have no income or insurance requirements. All students and their families are welcome.
