Special Education Cooperative Mission & Goals
Mission
The Special Education Co-op of ESD 112 is committed to working collaboratively with families, schools and communities to provide meaningful and measurable educational benefit for their children.
2006-07 Goals
- Maximize revenue to continue service levels.
- Provide services and support to provisional member districts.
- Implement newly authorized Federal regulations regarding the individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA)
- Develop site-based elementary life skills program in the Clark County area
- Increase the number of students enrolled in post-secondary programs, working for pay, and engaged with community agencies
- Provide coaching to special education staff working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
2005-06 Program Highlights
- Maximized revenue to continue service levels
- Balanced budget
- Maintained an average number of special education students at 12.7%
- Deployed new web-based IEP and report writer program
- 100% of certificated Co-op staff has been trained
- 85% of certificated staff is using the program proficiently
- Realigned staff in response to areas of population increase and decline
- Developed and started site-based life skills programs in the Clark County region
- La Center High School
- Hockinson Middle School
- Recruited and filled all 11 certified positions for the 2005-06 school year
- Implemented Speech Language Assistant Associates degree and certification program at ESD 112 that is delivered by Shoreline Community College through K20 interactive conference system
- Monitored and reviewed reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA '04) and its implications
- Provided monthly inservice to Regional Coordinators
- Implemented newsletters for Principals and Superintendents
- Web-Based IEP and report writer program meets new regulations
- Facilitated Response to Intervention (RTI) training for elementary school teams
- Formed and trained cadre of parent, agency and school members to act as IEP facilitators throughout the Co-op
