The Tridemic: Flu, RSV, and COVID-19

There continues to be increasing concern from local, state, and national health officials about multiple respiratory illnesses overwhelming communities and health care facilities. Of concern is the recent rise in flu cases along with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19.

The following information highlights steps that individuals, schools, and communities can take to help slow the spread of illness:

Individuals

  • Get vaccinated
  • Stay home when sick and limit contact with others as much as possible
  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your nose and mouth by using a tissue when you cough or sneeze; Throw tissue in the trash after one use
  • Clean frequently-touched services such as doorknobs and mobile devices
  • Wear a mask
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper shirt sleeve
  • Avoid close contact such as shaking hands, sharing cups and eating utensils, etc., with others

Schools/Child Care

Communities

  • Build and maintain a relationship with your local public health department
  • Document and share operational best practices with school partners
