About Community-Based Prevention

ESD 112 is the fiscal agent and convener for eleven different substance abuse prevention coalitions serving unique communities within the ESD 112 Region. The coalitions are comprised of community members and organizations working together towards a common goal of building a safe, healthy and drug free community. Most communities served by the coalitions also have a Student Assistance Professional assigned to the middle or high school.

Every year, Ridgefield School District fifth graders embark on an unforgettable outdoor learning adventure at CISPUS. This year, all ten classrooms from Sunset Ridge Intermediate attended together.

Students hiked to Angel Falls, studied macroinvertebrates, tested water quality, and participated in team-building activities that brought science to life. Beyond academics, they learned confidence, cooperation, and community.

When state funding ended, local EP&O levy dollars and community donations ensured this tradition continued. "Outdoor school has been part of Ridgefield's DNA for decades," said Principal Todd Graves.
