Teacher Chris Collmer leads his Food Science class through a lesson in molecular gastronomy at the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education. Juniors at CASEE in the Battle Ground Public Schools spend the year studying chemistry and one of it’s day-to-day applications, food science. Students discover how chemical reactions not only make a cake rise, but can suspend purees in spheres. In this video, we’ll meet a class of kids putting into pratice what they have learned in chemistry, making learning relavant and the scientific concepts likely to be retained. CASEE is a full four year half-day program for Battle Ground students looking to specialize in science-related studies. For more information, visit casee.battlegroundps.org
