Lyle Community School’s Pre-Kindergarten Program has been notified by the Washington State Department of Early Learning that it has received a Level 4 rating, defined as providing a program that is “thriving in high quality.” On a scale of 1-5, facilities that are rated 3-5 have demonstrated a quality level of excellence through on-site evaluation. Lyle’s program was one point short of receiving the highest possible rating, a five.

“The Early Achievers rating confirms what parents and children attending the Lyle pre-kindergarten program already know: there’s no need to go outside of Lyle in order to have a top-notch early learning experience,” Superintendent Ann Varkados, Ed.D said. “I’m extremely proud of our pre-kindergarten staff for their hard work and this deserved recognition from the State of Washington.”

Early Achievers is a framework for improving the quality of early care and education in Washington to ensure that all children have access to high-quality early learning experiences that help them develop the skills they need to be successful in school and beyond. It provides resources and training to help early learning professionals set goals that fit the needs of their program and improve outcomes for the children in their care. The goal of the initiative is to build a statewide system of high-quality early learning by bringing early learning professionals, families and resources together to support each child’s learning and development.

Ratings are based on the facility’s learning environment and interactions; child outcomes; curriculum and staff supports; family engagement and partnerships; and professional development and training.
