On May 30, three students from school districts in the Southwest Washington region were recognized at the annual Superintendent’s Art Show, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The State Art Show was hosted at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and showcased award winners from across the state who had already placed highly at their regional ESD Art Shows, as well as several student performing art pieces.

Out of the 15 pieces of art awarded Regional Awards from the ESD 112 Art Show, the following three were selected for awards at the state level:

"Quicksilver" by Jason Tran, 12th grade at Kelso

Kelso High School (Teacher: T.J. Frey), Kelso School District

"Fem-Masc" by Amelia Andraschko, 11th grade at Ridgefield

Amelia Andraschko, “Fem-Masc” – Public School Employees Award

Ridgefield High School (Teacher: Shelle House), Ridgefield School District

"sHE'S A REBEL" by Taryn Mckay, 12th grade at Kelso

Taryn Mckay, “sHE’S A REBEL” – Inspire Washington  Award

Kelso High School (Teacher: T.J. Frey), Kelso School District

Juror’s Choice awards were selected by a panel of three jurors from across the state, comprised of professional artists, teaching artists, and arts educators. Each of the award recipients received $200 and a trophy commemorating their achievements.
