The Washington Art Education Association, a non-profit organization that supports art teachers across Washington state is now accepting nominations for its annual Art Educator Awards. Nominees can include: an elementary teacher who brings the visual arts into her classroom, a specialist who hosts shows and community events, a parent organization that helps to keep art in the schools, a high school AP Visual Arts teacher or anything in between. The state award winners are often involved in the school community, develop curriculum, host school-wide shows, run after school clubs, make great parent and student connections, and lead professional learning groups.
