On March 29, Washougal and Camas School Districts held the East County Industry Hiring Fair at Washougal High School. The free event brought together around 40 regional companies, with about 175 local adults and teens attending the evening event. The hiring fair offered learning opportunities such as resume writing workshops and hiring information to students, families, and community members in the Southwest Washington and Greater Portland area.

“Our tremendous team of teachers, student support staff, and leaders at Washougal School District see to it that every student has what they need to succeed,” said Washougal School District Superintendent Mary Templeton. “Events like the Industry Hiring Fair open opportunities for our community’s youth.”

At Wednesday’s hiring fair, some employers collected applications and offered on-the-spot interviews for open positions. The event also provided the opportunity for students and attendees to explore careers, and even try their hand at something new. A construction simulator that was brought onsite, allowing attendees to try their hand at operating heavy machinery, proved to be a popular experience at the event!

Hospitality support for vendors presenting at the event was provided by Educational Service District 112.
