Small districts, such as RSD, are afforded the opportunity to differentiate instruction to help each student maximize learning. When Roosevelt students move from 6th grade to neighboring high school districts, they are successful academically and athletically.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY

Roosevelt is located on Highway 14 next to the Columbia River, 45 miles east of Goldendale, WA and 70 miles west of Kennewick, WA. The community has industrial workers, farm workers, farmers, ranchers, business owners, retirees and other various occupations sharing the quiet streets of the two very small towns of North Roosevelt and West Roosevelt and the surrounding farming/ranching area that make up Roosevelt School District. RSD is home to Republic Services, a state of the art landfill. Located at the landfill is a methane gas plant operated by the Klickitat Public Utility District. There are two large wind turbine companies, Harvest Wind Farm and White Creek Wind Farm generating electricity on the surrounding hills. There are also Harris Orchards and Sundale Orchards within a few miles of the school. Horse Heaven Grain Elevator is located in North Roosevelt where farmers truck their wheat to be shipped by barge down the Columbia River. Fishing, windsurfing and boating are a major source of recreation on the Columbia River and can be accessed by the boat dock located at a park less than a mile from the school. There are also a volunteer fire department and a mini-mart in West Roosevelt where the school is located.
