About

Standardized Testing in Washington State

The ESD 112 Student and School Success team offers personalized trainings and connections that districts and teachers need to support the state’s standardized testing program. A custom support plan could include training for new staff, support with the formative assessment process, or assistance in analyzing student data. Email kathy.whitlock@esd112.org for more information.

State Testing Resources

Washington students are tested regularly by the state to assess their progress as they move through school. State tests include Smarter Balanced, Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS), End-of-Course (EOC) exams and Washington – Access to Instruction and Measurement (WA-AIM). You can find more information at OSPI’s State Testing page.

Another valuable resource is Ready Washington, a coalition that supports college and career-ready learning standards.

ESD 112January 26, 2026 at 12:05pm
This month, we are recognizing each dedicated volunteer Board Member serving ESD 112. Today, we recognize Kevin Davis, who represents District 7, which includes Roosevelt, Wishram School, Centerville, Klickitat School District, Glenwood, Trout Lake, Lyle School District, White Salmon Valley School District, Mill A School District, Stevenson-Carson School District, Skamania School District, Washougal School District, Mount Pleasant, and Camas School District, as well as parts of Evergreen Public Schools.

Kevin shares about his background in education, and some “bright spots” he’s witnessed recently:
“My association with ESD 112 began in 1984, when I was a new teacher receiving support from the organization. That support continued throughout the next 35 years, until my retirement as a school district superintendent. The ESD was a major contributor to my success as a teacher and administrator. Now, as a board member, it’s my privilege to give back and support the organization that supported me throughout my career.”

He continues, “Some of my proudest moments as a board member have been witnessing the growth of programs that positively impact children across our region, as well as the strong leadership ESD 112 provides statewide. The positive “can do” attitude that all ESD employees’ exhibit is a major factor for the ESD’s success. I’m proud and honored to be part of such an outstanding organization.”

Thank you, Kevin, for your dedication to education in Southwest Washington.
