One year ago, Hannah King of Beacon Hill Elementary in the Kelso School District was new to the profession and having a hard time managing her classroom. Everything was a challenge in those first weeks. She wasn’t sure teaching was the right career for her. Hannah got help though. To help new teachers succeed, ESD 112 coordinates comprehensive support for 1st and 2nd year teachers through BEST, the Beginning Educator Support Team program. ESD 112 supports districts to keep and grow their newest teachers. Thanks to BEST, today, Hannah and her class are flourishing.

ESD 112 acknowledges and honors the traditional lands of the Cowlitz and Chinook Tribes, Lower Columbia Peoples, Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, on which our school districts reside in what is now Southwest Washington. We pay respect to the elders and caretakers that have stewarded these lands throughout generations and that are still here today.
