On June 12, the ESD 112 Teaching & Learning leadership team came together for their end of the year meeting. The primary focus of the meeting was to create cross-department workgroups for the upcoming school year that will focus on issues currently facing ESD 112 and its region’s districts.

Each workgroup will bring together a team from each of the ESD’s three Teaching & Learning departments: Early Care & Education, Specialized Student Services, and Student & School Success. Topics selected by the leadership team for the upcoming 2019-20 school year are:

  • Parent & Staff Training on Behavioral Health
  • Mental Health Supports
  • Trauma-Informed Practices
  • Information Sharing Cross-Department
  • Family Engagement
  • Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

The managers and supervisors in the leadership team represent over 150 programs that directly affect children and their families. “The incredibly hard and collaborative work done by the staff in the Division of Teaching and Learning to support, educate, and enrich the students and families we serve makes a huge difference,” says Mike Nerland, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning. “For some, it will be life changing, not only now, but for future generations.”
