Students who are STEM literate will be empowered by trans–disciplinary knowledge and experiences that will help them be college and career ready.
Career Readiness & STEM Initiatives
Our programs work to ensure that every student in the region has the knowledge, skills, and experiences that can unlock futures, build a globally engaged community, ensure a prosperous economy, and inspire innovation. Of the nearly 100,000 family-sustaining jobs that will be available in 10 years, more than 80% will require STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) literacy. STEM literacy is achieved when a student is able to apply his or her understanding of how the world works within and across the four interrelated STEM disciplines to improve the social, economic, and environmental condition of their local and global community. Across our program areas, we consider STEM literacy our foundation, and Career-Connected Learning our framework to support educators, students, employers and community organizations in meeting the demand for a highly-qualified workforce.
